Dropping off Elder Mooney at the MTC

Hanging out at Temple Square the day before going in to the MTC.

Elder Mooney is related to Parley P. Pratt so he took a photo by his portrait.

The next morning we made him pose for a few last photos and say goodbye.

Elder Mooney's Farewell

Kelly and Elder Mooney from his farewell talk at the Gilbert 9th Ward. In his talk he told a story of Jojo the mule. Jojo, when he had fallen down a well and his owner decided to bury him, found that if he shook off each shovelful of dirt was able to step up and eventually climb out. Elder Mooney compared this to the way in which we need to learn to shake off the dirt that is thrown at us and step up to reach our goals.

Opening the Mission Call

It was a full house when Matt invited everyone over to watch him open his mission call. There was a map of the world where people could guess where he was going.

No one was more happy than his mom when it was read that it was Santiago, Chile. She also served a mission there.

A big group of friends (including someone on video chat) were around him to celebrate.
